We recommend our HEAT TREATED steel for all COMMERCIAL applications. We DO NOT recommend our 303 stainless steel rollers for ANY commercial application. Heat treated rollers last 10X as long as stainless, or our regular steel. Introducing the largest in our line of 2-roller Monster Mills, the MM2-Pro. This is an awesome upgrade to our already successful MM-2 mill, meant to compete and win against the best milling products available. The Pro model upgrades the rollers to 2" diameter heat treated steel, adds the billet aluminum knobs, as well as the 1/2" drive shaft as standard. It consists of 6061 aluminum block frames with two 6" long, and 2" diameter steel rollers riding on SAE 841 oil impregnated bronze bushings. We use a superior grade of steel (1144 alloy) that is much harder than what is found on most comparable products and then we induction harden the rollers so that they will last 10X as long as comparable products. Commercial brewers have crushed 200,000 lbs +. The drive shaft, and all the axles are integral to the roller rather than screwed into the ends. This makes it fine to drive the mill clockwise, or counter-clockwise. All the axles are 3/8", with minimal freeplay in the bushings, and the larger 1/2" shaft comes standard. We now offer an optional keyed 1/2" drive shaft for gear motor/coupler applications. Instead of three flats for your drill chuck, there is a small slot for a 1/8" key to completely eliminate slipping in gear motor/coupler applications. The larger 2" diameter rollers allow a finer crush with more minimal husk damage, and milling at smaller gap settings without worry of skipping. This mill also comes with a much larger gap adjustment range of .200", more than double our standard range that should allow you to mill other grains like corn, as well as the conventional grist bills with barley.

Suitable for a small micro, and great for the home brewer that wants the best.

One of the knurled steel rollers is driven by a standard 1/2" electric drill (not included) to feed the grain through the adjustable gap and crush the grist. Make sure you have a very robust 1/2" drive corded drill to drive this mill, we can't be responsible for drill death! : ) Don't even ask about a hand crank for this mill! Both ends of the non-driven roller ride in bushings that are offset mounted in an adjustable knob. The billet knob is held in a fixed position by a black oxide bolt you can loosen to adjust the mill. This system provides an adjustment range of .200". Our new design knobs are milled from solid 6061 aluminum barstock for excellent durability. The flange has two semi-circular slots that allow you to attach the knob positively to the face of the aluminum frame. They have 12 sides for a positive grip. You need to fabricate a base and hopper to feed the grist through the mill. The mill can be mounted above or below the base and attached using the included mounting bolts.

There are two roller material options available for the larger 2" mills. They come standard with heat treated 1144 alloy steel, which offers fantastic wear for home and commercial brewers. Heat treated steel mills kept indoors, and used regularly won't have rust issues. Non climate controlled areas, or minimal usage could see some corrosion come up that is easily removed with a wire brush. We recommend our HEAT TREATED steel for all COMMERCIAL applications. We DO NOT recommend our 303 stainless steel rollers for ANY commercial application. To avoid rust altogether, we offer 303 Stainless Steel. It will wear just about the same as our non heat treated 1144 steel, but will not rust. Our 1144 alloy rollers are heat treated to approximately 51-54 Rockwell C hardness. This is what you want for any mill used in a commercial environment. Brew shops, breweries, and extremely prolific home brewers with tons of drinking buddies should use our heat treated 1144 alloy steel rollers. This mill WILL mill corn, and works just fine with rye by itself. It is also designed for barley and wheat malt, and un-malted wheat.
