We recommend our HEAT TREATED steel for all COMMERCIAL applications. We DO NOT recommend our 303 stainless steel rollers for ANY commercial application. Heat treated rollers last 10X as long as stainless, or our regular steel. This mill will NOT mill corn.

Introducing the newest version of our awesome 3-roller Pro series Monster Mill, the MM3-Pro PD. This mill is meant to be driven with a belt and pulley system, and is an upgrade to our MM-3Pro mill that adds a 3/4" diameter, 3.5" long drive shaft with a key way. The shaft also includes a machined 5/8" hex at the very end so that you can drive the mill with a mating socket, and your drill until you acquire a motor and drive system. We have also added a thicker drive side frame that includes a USA made sealed roller bearing to handle the side loads generated by the belt tension in a pulley drive setup. All the great features of the 3Pro designed to be belt driven with a motor. This mill as supplied is not compatible with a coupler for direct drive using our gearmotor.

All pulley drive mills come standard with heat treated Rollers for 10X the life of our standard steel. The MM3-Pro PD consists of a 6061 aluminum block frame with three 6" long 2" diameter steel rollers riding on SAE 841 oil impregnated bronze bushings, and a sealed USA made roller bearing on the drive shaft. We use a superior grade of heat treated 1144 steel that is much much harder than what is found on any comparable products and should last almost ten times as as long as our standard steel. The drive shaft, and all the axles are integral to the roller rather than screwed into the ends. This makes it fine to drive the mill clockwise, or counter-clockwise. All the axles are 3/8", with minimal freeplay in the bushings, and a much larger 3/4" drive shaft with a key way comes standard. You will need some POWER to turn this mill. Suitable for a small micro, and great for the home brewer that wants the best, the MM3-Pro PD is our largest mill designed to be driven with a belt and pulley drive system.

One knurled steel roller is driven by a pulley (not included) with 3/4" bore and standard 3/16" key way to feed the grain through the initial fixed gap of approximately .060", and then through the adjustable secondary gap and crush the grist. Make sure you have at least a 1/2 hp electric motor at 1725 rpm or slower, and the required 10:1 speed reduction pulley set to drive this mill, we can't be responsible for motor death! : ) Both ends of the non-driven top idler roller ride in bronze bushings that are pressed into the frames, while the second idler roller rides in bushings that are offset mounted in an adjustable knob. The billet knob is held in a fixed position by a black oxide bolt you can loosen to adjust the mill. This system provides an adjustment range of .065". Our new design knobs are milled from solid 6061 aluminum barstock for excellent durability. The flange has two semi-circular slots that allow you to attach the knob positively to the face of the aluminum frame. They have 12 sides for a positive grip. You need to purchase our base and hopper (guaranteed to save you way more than $45 of your time and materials) or fabricate your own to feed the grist through the mill. The mill can be mounted above or below the base and attached using the included mounting bolts.

There is ONE material option available for the larger 2" pulley drive mills. They only come standard with our 1144 steel rollers that have been heat treated/hardened. The regular 1144 alloy rollers are heat treated to approximately 51-54 Rockwell C hardness. This roller material has survived through more than 200,000 lbs of grist in commercial applications. Plain steel mills kept indoors, and used regularly won't have rust issues. Non climate controlled areas, or minimal usage could see some corrosion come up that is easily removed with a wire brush. We recommend this mill with our HEAT TREATED steel rollers for all COMMERCIAL applications. This mill will NOT mill corn, and doesn't work well with rye by itself. It is designed for barley and wheat malt, and un-malted wheat. For corn see the 2Pro, or 2ProPD.
